Happy New Year to everyone.
We're looking forward to an exciting 2018, as it's the year we start publishing our own titles.
The first cab off the rank looks like it will be Jorge Knijnik's World Cup Chronicles, a terrific read about the social, economic, political and cultural impacts of the 2014 World Cup on the Brazilian population. Jorge brings a unique perspective to it from an 'inside, outside' point of view: a Brazilian expat living in Sydney. You can expect that in April.
The next one will be Andrew Howe's masterpiece, the Encyclopedia of Socceroos. We're now deep into the design process and it is truly magnificent, and an enormous testament to Andrew who, for many years, maintained this data for love and because he knew that someone should. Pre-orders for the two special editions close this week - so don't miss out. You can expect that in May.
Before then, there's other great reading from our partners in the UK (DeCoubertin Books) and USA (Powderhouse Press) including Bonita Mersiades' Whatever It Takes - the Inside Story of the FIFA Way. It's sure to be fascinating. That's available later this month, but we're taking orders now.
Unfortunately, in the week before Christmas our site was the subject of a cyber attack. It meant that visitors to the site were prevented from visiting it or purchasing or ordering anything. Not great timing. :(
The good news is it's fixed and we're up-and-running again ready for some of our first titles to roll-out in 2018.
Because we were 'down' for a week, we've also extended the deadline to order the special editions of the Encyclopedia of Socceroos by Andrew Howe with Ray Gatt.
We're now starting to get the early proofs of this through. Frankly, it's beyond exciting. It looks marvellous - to quote Bozza - and if you're a Socceroos fan, or just a football or sporting almanack, you will love this book. Take a look at the sample page featuring Mark Koussas and Eddie Krncevic below.
The special editions are limited in number and include a Souvenir and Supporters edition. If you'd prefer to spend less, then there's also the Early Edition at the regular price but you can order now to make sure you get one of the first when they roll of the presses (yes, it's regular offset printing, not digital printing) in May 2018.
Hope you all had a great Christmas, and you're looking forward to some really good football books from us in 2018.
Some big derbies this weekend!
We hope one day we can offer something about one of our own A-League derbies - eg. the #SydneyDerby on this weekend. As a new, small, niche publisher into really good football books, that's exactly what we want to do.
But in the meantime, we have some great offerings from our partner publisher in the UK all relevant to two other great derbies this weekend: the #ManchesterDerby and the #MerseysideDerby.
Take a look around our online Shop and you'll see what we mean.
Shop now to make sure you get these books before Christmas! They would make a great edition under the tree or as a Christmas stocking filler.
And don't forget also, the pre-order period for the Souvenir Edition and Supporters Edition of the Encyclopedia of Socceroos closes at the end of this month. This is a magnificent volume for any fan of Australian football. Out in May 2018 - perfect while you watch next year's World Cup!
